Fashionista: a person devoted to fashion clothing, particularly unique or high fashion.

Sunday morning, after my sermon, a dear lady came to me. She said she had a gift for me, a piece of clothing for my fashion collection. I love ❤️ gifts ? {it is my love language… hint hint ?}, but the gift didn’t struck me as much as her words did “for my fashion collection”. I loved every word in that sentence.

Later on I told my hubby about this encounter. And in that moment I realized, I do have a fashion {and shoe ?} collection. A collection I am proud of. A collection I have nursed for the past fourteen years, seeing that I still have my matric farewell dress and shoes.

I love the language of fashion.
I love the place of origin, I believe I am a Parisian born in South Africa ??

But why am I sharing this with you?

When I was younger I felt ashamed of myself. I usually ended up overdressed {high heels and make-up}. So I decided to change to fit in. And even though I tried to fit it, i always felt rather uncomfortable and I didn’t fit in.

Later in my life, when I became pregnant with my first-born, I did not honor my pregnant beauty. I struggled to dress well. I felt fat and ugly. My low self-esteem deteriorated even further.

All of this took its toll on my marriage. My work. My business.

It didn’t go better with my second pregnancy ?.

As you most probably know by now, at the end of 2015, I took the bold and brave step to enter my first pageant, Mrs South Africa. Mrs South Africa and the empowerment I experienced awaken my inner fashionista and diva.
